ARTIST STATEMENT
I am, by nature, a painter of landscapes. So much of the pleasure of landscape painting begins with simply always looking around for those moments when something catches the eye. Sometimes it’s a new place, other times it’s a familiar setting in a different light, another season. From that fragment – perhaps the play of winter light and shadows – I begin painting not necessarily the scene itself, but where it leads me. Which means the painting itself becomes perhaps not just what was there, but another place, another time.
